How do you play Squares?
Connect letters in any direction—up, down, left, right, or diagonally—to form words. Words must be at least 4 letters long. Your goal is to find all the words in the letter grid and score as many points as possible.
How does scoring work in Squares?
You earn 1 point for each letter in a guessed word. For example, a 5-letter word scores 5 points. Only main words count for points - bonus words don't contribute to scoring.
How do hints work in Squares?
Each puzzle provides 3 to 5 hints (shown as lightbulb icons) based on difficulty. When used, hints reveal the first letter of a random word and the direction to start searching. You can get an extra hint by sharing the game link. Finding the Word of the Day gives you 2 additional hints.
What are bonus words in Squares?
Bonus words are obscure, archaic, or slang terms that don't count for points but appear in the bonus word list. Each puzzle also has a special Word of the Day bonus word - finding it rewards you with two extra hints. You can keep searching for bonus words even after finding all main words.
How often are new puzzles released?
A fresh Squares puzzle is released every day at midnight.
